Jaras

A MICHELIN-Selected Gem in Phuket: Modern Southern Thai at Jaras

If you’re looking for a dining experience that perfectly blends tradition with modern elegance, Jaras at InterContinental Phuket Resort is an absolute must-visit.

Recently recognized as a “Selected” restaurant by the MICHELIN Guide Thailand, Jaras takes authentic Southern Thai recipes and elevates them into a creative, fine-dining journey. With its stunning design overlooking Kamala Beach and a front-row seat to the sunset, it’s the ultimate spot for a romantic anniversary or a special celebration.

From Farm to Table: A Conscious Menu

The heart of Jaras lies in its commitment to local ingredients. From seafood caught in the Andaman Sea to organic vegetables sourced from local farms (like Kratian Farm), every dish tells a story of the region’s rich biodiversity.

I opted for the 3-Course Sharing Menu, and here are the highlights:

1. Appetizers: Habitat – Conscious

  • Phuket Scallop Miang Kham: Fresh local scallops served with wild herbs and a signature homemade sauce. A burst of Thai flavors in every bite.
  • Moo Hong Tod: A clever twist on Phuket’s famous braised pork belly, reimagined as a crispy spring roll.
  • White Prawn Gaeng Liang: A nourishing herbal soup featuring wild mushrooms and vegetables, crafted with a “zero-waste” philosophy in mind.

2. Mains: Southern Thai Heritage

  • Soft Shell Crab with Salted Egg Sauce: Perfectly crispy crab paired with a rich, velvety salted egg sauce and a touch of lemon jelly for brightness.
  • Gaeng Pae (Goat Curry): Local goat meat slow-cooked with wild potatoes, coconut milk, and tamarind. The meat was incredibly tender!
  • Pad Pak Miang: Stir-fried organic Miang leaves with dried shrimp and garlic—a quintessential Southern Thai comfort dish done to perfection.

3. Dessert: Ecologically – Pure

  • Mango & Passion Fruit Sorbet: A refreshing end to the meal using ripe mangoes and zesty passion fruit. Simple, sustainable, and purely delicious.

Final Thoughts

The combination of the chic beachside atmosphere, the golden sunset, and the sophisticated presentation makes Jaras one of the best dining destinations in Phuket.
