The Naka Island A Luxury Collection

We stayed at The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection hotel located on Naka Yai Island, a five-minute boat ride from Phuket, for the first time in seven years.

As always, it’s a lovely island and a comfortable stay is guaranteed.

This time, we stayed in the middle of the rainy season, which made me a little worried, but since it’s further east than Phuket, We thought it might be less prone to rain than the beach areas on the west side of Phuket.

Even during the rainy season, We were able to enjoy the outdoor areas when the rain stopped.

Boats depart every 30 minutes from Ao Po Grand in Phuket. There is also a lounge at the port, or rather the boat marina, so if you arrive early, you can relax in the lounge enjoying coffee and sweets while waiting for the boat to depart.

The resort is in an area facing Ao Po Grand, so it is a 5-minute boat ride away. It is a very comfortable luxury boat, so the travel is easy and the distance overturns the perception that boat travel is a hassle. Rather, it was just the right 5 minutes to change my mind about heading to the resort island.

When we arrived on the island, a buggy came to pick us up at the pier. When we got off the pier, a gong was sounded twice and a ceremony to enter the island was held. Since we had already checked in at the lounge in Phuket, we were guided to our villa after the ceremony.

Sea View One Bed Pool Villa

This time we stayed in a pool villa on the sea side. It’s a cute Balinese-style villa. We love this villa so much that we want to make it my own home, and we really recommend it.

First of all, it has a large window on the sea side, so you can enjoy the sea view from the room. The spacious main room also has a sofa and desk space, and is designed to be comfortable even without being in the villa.

Outdoors, surrounding the main room are the pool, sala, bathroom (with steam sauna) and outdoor bathtub, and you can walk all the way around the outside of the villa.

Each villa has ample space and is well equipped.

After entering the pool, you can go straight into the bathtub, and after the bath you can steam the shower room and if it gets even hotter you can take a dip in the pool.

These pool villas allow you to fully enjoy the resort without staying in the villa.

The air conditioning isn’t very strong, so we like the fact that the bathroom area is outdoors. There is a ceiling fan, so if it gets hot, you can turn it on and it will be a comfortable temperature. The netting to keep out bugs is also great. This is definitely one of my favorite villas. It’s one that we want to stay in again and again.

Afternoon Tea at Villa

Afternoon tea in the villa is out of the ordinary and highly recommended!

A sea view afternoon is the best sweet time you can enjoy in Phuket.

We recommend adding Naka Island’s signature cocktail to enjoy an elegant moment while sipping a tropical cocktail.

Dinner at Rum Chapel (EatOut Special)

For dinner on the first day, we ordered the main course from Rum Chapel’s limited-time special Eat Out menu. Every year, Marriott Thailand offers a special menu called Eat Out at each hotel for three months from May to the end of July. We recommend trying Eat Out during this limited time period. At Naka Island, they offer grilled salmon, olive oil salmon for 990B, and lamb saute Aniello Tagliata.

This lamb meat was so delicious that my cheeks just dropped. This saute, which can only be made by an experienced chef, has no strong flavor, so much so that you would never think it was veal, and it’s a dish that you’ll want to eat again! I’ve never been a big fan of lamb, but I’d definitely like to try the lamb at Lamb Chapel again.

We also had carpaccio, caprese, squid ink pasta, seafood risotto, tiramisu, and fior di latte, and everything was delicious, so this is a restaurant where Japanese people who love Italian food can order with confidence.

This is a restaurant with a nice atmosphere, but it is also a resort island restaurant that families can use with confidence.

Breakfast at Tonsai Restaurant

The breakfast buffet is served at Tonsai Restaurant.

It’s an international buffet, so you can choose what you like.

The garden area is equipped with umbrellas and tables, creating a very nice atmosphere. The signature coffee and Thai milk tea are delicious, and we ordered refills. In addition, sparkling wine is available all you can drink from the morning, so it’s a breakfast venue where you can feel luxurious.

Adding orange to sparkling wine creates a fun flavor that makes it perfect for breakfast.

There is a wide selection of made-to-order fresh juices, cold cuts, pastries, egg dishes, Thai dishes, and more, and the atmosphere is great for relaxing.

Lunch at Tonsai Restaurant

For lunch, we had Thai food at Tonsai Restaurant. Although it is a restaurant on a resort island, We were surprised at the wide selection of Thai dishes. It is a very authentic Thai restaurant. There are so many dishes that we couldn’t finish it all in one meal, and it is one of the restaurants we would definitely like to visit again.

If you are unsure of what to order, it is a good idea to ask the staff for recommendations.

They have classic dishes such as pad thai, tom yum, and pineapple fried rice, and many Thai dishes that children can eat safely.

We ordered Yum Som O Goong, Yam Talay ,Tom Yum Goong ,Khao Phad Sapparod ,Phad Thai Goong

and Pla Tod Mieng Ku.

My Grill Restaurant

For dinner on the second day, we went to My Grill, a restaurant that specializes in grills. This restaurant is recommended for its Australian beef and seafood from the Andaman Sea.

We ordered the beef and seafood. In addition to the grill style, they also have a wide selection of appetizers and soups, and you can enjoy a three-course set consisting of an appetizer, main course, and dessert.

If you are staying at a resort hotel, if you sign up for a half-board or full-board package, you will get a three-course dinner, which we think is a great deal. Please make a reservation with dinner included and enjoy dinner at My Grill.

The staff are extremely attentive, paying particular attention to how the food is cooked. They provide very detailed service, such as checking the doneness of the food.

The only disappointment was that it rained as we were originally meant to have dinner while watching the sunset.

However, the food was delicious and we were able to enjoy a satisfying dinner, so we are very satisfied.

Floating Breakfast

If you stay in a private villa, you can add a floating breakfast to your order.

A floating breakfast while looking out at the sea is the best time.

What’s more, you can also order additional sparkling wine at Naka Island, so it’s highly recommended!

Naka Island has resort activities and a spa, and is designed to make your stay at the resort more enjoyable. We participated in several activities this time, so we would like to introduce them to you.

Highly recommended! Bird watching

The meeting time is early at 7am, so it’s not suitable for people with low blood pressure, but we were surprised to see so many birds within the Naka Island resort. This activity is in collaboration with the Bird Watching Society of Thailand (BCST), and May, who is in charge, is a birdwatcher who is knowledgeable about birds. She can identify birds from far away and is an expert at setting up the telescope.

We really enjoyed it because we never imagined we would be able to experience such authentic bird watching in a resort activity. Hornbills live in the resort, so if you want to watch hornbills, we highly recommend participating in this activity.

Mangrove Kayaking

This is a program where you can enjoy kayaking around the resort. Behind the resort is a natural mangrove forest, and this is an adventure program where you kayak through the arches of the mangrove forest. An instructor who is knowledgeable about kayaking will guide you, so even first-time participants can experience it with peace of mind.

Since it comes with a nature guide, you can absorb knowledge about the creatures and nature that can be seen on Naka Island, so it is also recommended for children.

I didn’t expect to be able to experience such authentic kayaking in this program, so I highly recommend Naka Island’s hands-on activities to nature lovers.

A spa is the best way to relax after enjoying activities

Some accommodation packages include a spa, which will enhance your resort experience, so we recommend that you try the spa at least once during your stay.

The spa also has a sauna and ice bath, and offers treatments other than massage. The facilities are extensive, so we recommend it.

Main Pool & Beach Area

Since it’s a private pool villa, there is a pool in the room, but the main area is also recommended.

In the morning, the main pool reflects the clouds, making for a wonderful space.

You can also enjoy swimming on the beach, and it’s nice to take a nap while listening to the sound of the waves. Since the view from the room is from a high vantage point, the main pool area and the area facing the beach have a different atmosphere from the room, so we recommend them.
